Sound, Soul, and "Western Witch Rock": Inside Harken Hall’s Next Meet & Three Showcase

There is something undeniably magical about an intimate, story-driven round. It’s a setting where the gloss of production fades away, leaving only raw lyricism, pure vocal talent, and the lived experiences that shape the music.

On Tuesday, July 14, Harken Hall is bringing back its celebrated Meet & Three showcase. Inspired by the classic Southern “meat and three” tradition, this edition serves up three completely distinct sonic perspectives in one unforgettable night.

If you want to discover the next wave of boundary-pushing artists before the rest of the world catches on, here is a deeper look at the incredible lineup taking the stage.

1. book NOT brooke: The "Dancer First" Electronic Pioneer

At the center of the evening is East Nashville’s own book NOT brooke (the creative moniker of Brooke Vespoli). A classically trained cellist who once shredded at NPR’s Headquarters as part of Anni DiRusso’s Tiny Desk band, she eventually traded the orchestra pit for the studio, teaching herself how to produce from scratch.

What makes her pop project so mesmerizing is her unwavering "Dancer First" philosophy. Born out of a need to break free from rigid musical perfectionism, her guiding mantra is simple: If a song is good enough to make her body move instinctively, it makes the cut. Listening to her body over her brain has allowed her to build an unpredictable, liberating sonic universe.

Her debut album, Dancer First, alongside infectious recent singles like "Ctrl Alt CHERRY Delete" and "Nobody Dances Anymore," blends experimental electronic textures, bold pop hooks, and theatrical, movement-driven performance art. Expect a highly visual, high-energy set that practically begs you to shed your own insecurities and move along with her.

2. Kitty Coen: The Spellbinding "Western Witch Rocker"

Bringing a completely different, cinematic energy to the stage is Austin’s rising alternative voice, Kitty Coen. Coen has carved out a distinct lane for herself in the indie world by mastering a genre she affectionately dubs “western witch rock.”

It is a hypnotic, atmospheric fusion of indie pop, alternative rock, and classic country-western storytelling. Heavily influenced by the moody, sweeping arrangements of Lana Del Rey, the mystical stage presence of Stevie Nicks, and the raw vocal grit of Miley Cyrus, Coen pairs haunting vocals with dark, narrative-rich songwriting.

Following the breakout success of her debut EP Disco Lemonade, she has been captivating audiences with live performances that feel part rock concert, part spell-casting. Her set promises to transport the room straight into a moody, neon-lit desert dreamscape.

3. Cooper Ramsey: Soulful Depth and Advocacy

Rounding out this incredible trio is Cooper Ramsey, a phenomenal young talent who possesses a voice and emotional maturity well beyond her years. Now based in Nashville, Ramsey’s musical path has already taken her from local talent shows to some of the most revered stages in music history, including a performance at the legendary Apollo Theater and sharing a stage with the icon Stevie Wonder.

What truly sets Ramsey apart is the profound honesty embedded in her songwriting. Her music is deeply intertwined with her personal advocacy for mental health awareness. She uses her platform to spark genuine connection, transforming complex personal struggles and lived experiences into beautiful, resonant melodies.

With an exceptional blend of technical vocal precision and rare emotional depth, Ramsey’s performance is bound to pull at your heartstrings and leave a lasting impression.
